Job summary

Bon Secours seeks a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for Med Surg at Southside Regional Medical Center. The role includes delivering basic patient care, monitoring vitals, and assisting with daily activities under RN guidance, while maintaining patient comfort and safety.

EPIC/EHR experience is preferred; BLS is preferred and training must be completed before direct patient care. Minimum experience in acute care or related settings is valued.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility.
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred; must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
• Must have completed one of the following: nursing aide training program OR STNA OR CNA OR Nurses Aide state testing or completed a nursing program with clinical rotation
• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assists with mobility.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and/or concerns.
• Provides high-level customer service to all patients, patient's family, visitors, and employees.
• Provides accurate, precise, timely documentation for patient care.
• Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and when leaving.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
• Mobilizes patients using therapeutic transfer techniques to foster independence and safety.
• Encourages patients to complete tasks as independently as possible.
• Individualizes care based on patient's interests and hobbies.
