Job summary

Trinity Health Oakland Campus in Pontiac is seeking a Patient Support Tech for the 4G Med Surg Unit. This part-time, night-shift role supports RN, provides direct patient care, and helps with ADLs and basic procedures.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED; 6 months direct patient care experience is preferred. Shifts are 12 hours, 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, with every-other-weekend and some holidays required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 6 months direct patient care experience preferred.
• Completion of a Patient Care Technician program that requires externship in an acute care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic bedside care and selected procedures under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, including venipuncture, 12-lead EKG, basic blood glucose collection and monitoring, respiratory care, dressing changes, vital signs, recognizing life-threatening conditions and reporting.
• Performs activities of daily living (ADL) under RN supervision.
• Performs basic nutritional support such as bed setup, feeding assistance, and intake/calorie documentation.
• Performs other duties as assigned which may vary by unit and patient needs.
