Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join the Critical Care team in the 5 West Teaching and Innovation unit. This role supports RNs and delivers direct patient care and family support in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will perform delegated clinical tasks, monitor vital signs, assist with hygiene and mobility, and help maintain a safe, clean environment while delivering patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification or obtained within 30 days.
• Ability to pass clinical competency testing.
• Physical ability to perform job responsibilities.
• Basic math and computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the Critical Care department and their families.
• Clinical services could include, but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and emotional support.
• Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the Critical Care dept.
• Contribute to the efficient operation of the Critical Care dept, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
