Job summary

Virtua Health in Marlton, NJ is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Technician to support daily living activities, monitor patients, and assist in clinical duties under RN/LPN guidance. The role requires compassion, clear communication, and adherence to safety standards.

BLS certification is required, with phlebotomy/EKG training preferred for certain departments. Responsibilities include vital signs, basic nursing tasks, patient education, and assisting with admissions and care transitions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of a PCT course, or fundamentals nursing course in an RN program, or CNA program, or one year of direct patient care.
• BLS certification; phlebotomy training may be required for ED positions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, nutrition, toileting, mobility).
• Maintain standard precautions and safe patient practices.
• Take vital signs, point-of-care testing, bladder scanning, Foley care as directed.
• May perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified.
• Communicate changes in patient status to RN/LPN and respond appropriately.
• Reinforce patient and family education on care needs and safety.
• Support patient satisfaction initiatives and participate in improvement activities.
• Assist in orientation of new hires.
