Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Patient Care Tech for the CDH Surgical Care Center (2 B/C) on a full-time night shift, 6pm-6:30am with rotating weekends. The role supports RN-managed care and performs basic nursing tasks while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, CNA/MA/EMT credentials or are nursing students with clinical exposure, and BLS certification. The department emphasizes patient-centered care and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification as Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT, or nursing student with one semester of clinical is required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care activities under RN supervision, including monitoring vital signs and glucose measurements.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming and eating.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Maintains clean and orderly patient rooms.
• Coordinates unit workflow with the charge RN and manager as needed.
• Answers calls and communicates with staff and families.
