Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Tech for a part-time 6am-6:30pm shift with rotating weekends at the CDH Surgical Care Center (2 B/C). This role supports nursing staff by monitoring vitals, assisting with activities of daily living, and ensuring a clean, well-organized unit.

We value patient satisfaction and teamwork within a responsive care environment. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, CNA/MA/EMT or nursing student with clinical experience, and BLS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing school students with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Phlebotomy experience (preferred).
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant program or Phlebotomy course (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose, and recording intake and output.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating).
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and multi-tasking under stress.
• Prioritizes unit work and adapts as needs change.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers calls using proper etiquette and communicates information to staff/family/patient.
• Manages unit workflow with RN/assistant manager as needed.
• Performs pre-census and validates daily census lists as needed.
