Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA, is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Transitional Care Unit on the Night shift (7 PM–7 AM). The role supports rehabilitation patients with daily activities, vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen collection under RN supervision.

Required education includes a high school diploma or equivalent, plus CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related certification, and BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Experience in healthcare preferred (1 year).
• Certifications or training listed in the job posting.
• Active CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor and document vital signs and patient status.
• Assist with mobility and ambulation.
• Perform phlebotomy and point-of-care testing.
• Conduct EKG testing and specimen collection.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion/removal and IV removal as directed.
