Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician for the Medicine Unit on a full-time night shift (12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, rotating weekends).

The role supports nursing with ADLs, vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKG, IV/ Foley procedures, and precise documentation. AHA BLS within 90 days is required; CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related certs qualify.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required; multiple qualifying certifications listed in Education.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility and ambulation.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and EKG testing.
• Peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter insertion/removal.
• Observe and document patients' condition and report changes to RN or medical staff.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)

National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)

US Navy Hospital Corps School

EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic (Emergency Services)

Clinical program student (RN/LPN/RT/PT)

Recent PCT or Nursing Assistant experience
