Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Vascular Unit. This full-time night shift (7:00pm–7:00am) includes three 12-hour tours with rotating weekends.

Responsibilities include vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, IV removal, and specimen collection under RN supervision. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, and eligible CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related certification; BLS within 90 days is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Eligible for or current CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or similar certification.
• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• At least 1 year health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to RN.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and EKGs.
• Assist with mobility, ambulation, and specimen collection.
• Remove peripheral IVs and manage Foley catheters as directed.
• Document observations accurately and timely.
