Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Tech IHR at the Surgical Care Center Nights, under RN supervision. You will perform basic nursing care activities, monitor vital signs, assist with ADLs, and help maintain unit workflow.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, and eligibility as CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student. CPR-BLS certification is required. Northwestern Medicine offers tuition reimbursement, loan forgiveness, 401(k) matching, and lifecycle benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Nursing students who have completed one clinical rotation, or CNA, CMA, or EMT.
• CPR – Basic Life Support.
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant program or Phlebotomy course.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating).
• Reports abnormal findings or changes to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Prioritizes unit work and functions under stressful situations.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers calls and communicates information to staff, family, and patients.
• Manages unit workflow with the charge RN or assistant manager.
• Performs pre-census and validates daily admission, discharge, and census lists.
