Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network in Hazleton is seeking a patient care worker to provide direct patient care and support diagnostic studies as directed by a Registered Nurse. You will be part of a care delivery team focused on patient family centered care and quality outcomes.

Responsibilities include effective communication with the RN, participating in unit goals, and contributing to ongoing patient safety. Shift is night hours with 7p-7:30am, every other weekend and rotating holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Less than 1 year experience in direct provision of patient care activities, including treatments and/or diagnostic studies.
• Six months recent experience in direct provision of patient care activities, including treatments and/or diagnostic studies.
• Or successful completion of LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course.
• Ability to follow direction and provide accurate reports.
• Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies.
• Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care.
• Basic computer skills.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days.

Responsibilities

• Provides care to designated patients using a patient/family centered approach and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Communicates findings, changes, or problems to the RN in a timely manner.
• Engages in effective verbal and non-verbal communication with patients, families, visitors, staff, and colleagues.
• Participates in the orientation of new staff and supports unit-based patient experience goals.
• Performs validated technical skills in line with clinical specialty and unit practice.
• Uses technology to optimize delivery of care and completes quality checks on unit equipment.
• Conducts patient rounds, anticipates patient needs, and responds to call lights promptly.
