Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a part-time admissions support role to manage patient registrations, verify insurance, and coordinate bed assignments for surgical and medical admissions. The team ensures accurate pre-certifications and smooth entry processes.

The role involves one 12-hour night shift per week (6:15 PM–6:45 AM), including holidays and weekends, with a focus on up-front cash collection support and coordinating with various units for patient care and admission planning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; experience in patient registration procedures, medical terminology, medical office functions, Excel, Microsoft applications and keyboard experience.
• Prefer prior work experience with insurance verification.
• Position necessitates the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, hospital personnel, physicians, and other customers.
• Must type 45 wpm and have good telephone skills.

Responsibilities

• Identifies all insurances requiring authorization and obtain the authorization prior to patient admission.
• Utilizes fax, telephone and online sources to obtain the information needed.
• Records information for staff use in collection action in Excel spreadsheets and Alternative.
• Coordinates with the surgery schedule for the admission of surgery patients as observation or In-patient.
• Assigns beds and places patients on appropriate units following established guidelines based on patient need.
• Documents room assignments on patient room assignment log and coordinates transfers.
• Notifies cashier/financial counseling of 'self pay' patients for financial arrangements to be made prior to admission.
