Job summary

MultiCare Health System is seeking a Patient Access Technician for night shift in Fresno, CA. This role focuses on accurate admissions and registrations, leveraging a service-oriented approach to support patients and families throughout the admission process.

Responsibilities include obtaining bed assignments, pre-admitting scheduled patients, and gathering demographic and insurance information. Prior healthcare experience is preferred to ensure smooth operations and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a health vocational program such as Patient Access, Medical Assistance Medical Billing & Insurance OR One (1) year of experience performing any combination of admitting, Health Unit Coordinator, patient registration, customer service or billing duties required;

Responsibilities

• You will assure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to organization policy and procedures and regulatory requirements
• You will obtain inpatient bed assignments and processes inpatient admission, including arm banding, addressograph plate, and completion of necessary forms
• You will pre‑admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients to facilitate a smooth and speedy admission/registration process
• You will obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation in the computer system in order to notify other areas
• You will complete comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews with the patient, relative, or their representative to obtain pertinent demographic insurance and/or third‑party liability information
• You will perform eligibility verification and resolves any discrepancies, determine the need for financial assistance recommendation and application, referring to the Financial Counselor where necessary
