Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Night Shift Patient Access Specialist in Aubrey, TX to facilitate patient tracking, billing, and insurance verification to maximize hospital reimbursement. You will handle demographics, collect out-of-pocket responsibility, and ensure accurate patient accounting while delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities include verifying benefits, obtaining authorizations, securing timely payments, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Fluency in English; bilingual English/Spanish as applicable in market location.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all regulations applicable to Admissions and Medical Records handling.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships with patients and payers.
• Identify and triage patients on arrival to the hospital to protect patient safety.
• Answer phones professionally, record messages, and communicate with medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents; verify and enter demographic information for accounts.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor and plan in the system; obtain authorizations as required.
• Pursue collections at the time of service in a customer-service oriented fashion.
• Scan and file registration and clinical documentation; maintain medical records.
• Coordinate patient transfers to other hospitals when necessary; respond to medical record requests.
• Maintain cash drawer and log of patients, payments, transfers, and admissions.
