Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license (MercyOneGenesis) at time of hire; secondary license for other state must be obtained within 12 months.
• Minimum of 2 years Operating Room experience required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within 3 months of hire.
• Must work in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
• Personal presence with honesty, integrity, and caring to promote MercyOne Mission.

Responsibilities

• Scrub and circulate on cases independently with minimal direction.
• Prepare for surgical cases, anticipate needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and team.
• Provide a safe environment by following aseptic technique and safety standards.
• Collect and analyze data; assess patient in nursing diagnoses.
• Communicate effectively with patient, staff, physicians and families.
• Maintain knowledge of equipment setup and function; assist in room turnover and cleanup.
• Participate in orientation and training of new personnel.
• Utilize the surgical documentation system for records and specimens.
