Job summary

MercyOne in West Des Moines, IA, seeks a perioperative registered nurse to provide intraoperative care in scrub and circulating roles. The role requires call, weekends, nights and holidays as scheduled, ensuring high standards of patient safety and teamwork across the OR.

Responsibilities include case preparation, data collection for nursing diagnoses, effective communication with the care team and families, and efficient room turnover.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current or compact state RN license.
• BLS certification within six weeks of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months of hire.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs and circulates on cases independently with minimal direction.
• Prepares for surgical cases efficiently, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and OR team.
• Provides a safe environment by aseptic technique and by managing physical/psychological aspects of the environment.
• Collects and analyzes data and assesses patients for nursing diagnoses.
• Communicates effectively with patients, staff, physicians and families.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment setup and function.
• Initiates and directs room cleanup and turnover.

Skills
