Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, OH is seeking a part-time Surgical Technologist First Assist to support the operative team. Under RN supervision, you will set up and maintain the surgical field and assist the surgeon during procedures, ensuring patient safety and quality care.

Key duties include preparing equipment and supplies, positioning patients, assisting with hemostasis, closing incisions, applying dressings, and coordinating with the surgeon throughout operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; CFA/CAAHEP preferred.
• NCCSA – CSA, ABSA – SA-C, NBSTSA – CSFA certifications required/recognized.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain the surgical field under RN direction.
• Assist surgeon during operative procedures.
• Position patients safely during surgery.
• Prepare equipment, supplies, and instruments for cases.
• Assist with hemostasis and wound closure as directed.
• Apply wound dressings and secure drainage as needed.
