Job summary

Northwell is seeking a Nursing Assistant for a night shift with varied hours. The role involves assisting patients with activities of daily living, hygiene, feeding, and basic care under the supervision of the registered nurse.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, completion of a nursing assistant course, and as needed heart saver certification. Minimum two years of direct patient care experience is preferred while strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• Completion of a Nursing Assistant Course.
• Heart Saver Certification preferred.
• Minimum two years of direct patient care experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provides patients with assistance in performing activities of daily living.
• Assists with oral/personal hygiene and feeding as needed.
• Measures and records TPR, BP, height, weight, intake/output and bowel movements.
• Collects specimens as required and reports changes to the RN.
• Assists with electrode application, IV care, and related procedures under supervision.
• Responds to patient calls and emergencies; ensures patient safety.
• Carries out assignments and reports observations to the RN.
• Maintains competence through in-service education programs.
