Job summary

Northwell Health in Syosset, NY seeks a compassionate Nursing Assistant to help patients with daily living activities, feeding, hygiene, and safety under RN supervision.

You will document vitals, assist with routine assessments, and support the healthcare team in delivering high-quality care. Weekend and holiday shifts are required; completion of a Nursing Assistant course and Heart Saver certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Nursing Assistant Course is required.
• Heart Saver Certification is preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years direct patient care experience.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provides patients with assistance in performing activities of daily living.
• Assists with oral and personal hygiene and with feeding as needed.
• Assists with health care team assessments and safety checks.
• Accurately measures and records vitals (TPR, BP), height, weight, intake/output.
• Collects specimens as required (urine, feces, sputum).
• Reports changes in patient condition to the RN and supports care under supervision.
• Applies simple dressings and discontinuation of IV therapies as directed.
• Assists with Foley catheter insertion/removal and basic wound care.
• Intervenes in emergencies and ensures patient safety; responds to call bells promptly.
• Transfers, transports, and positions patients safely; participates in drills.
