Job summary

Stony Brook University Medical Center in Stony Brook, NY is seeking a Nursing Assistant I/II for the 14S Orthopedics unit on the Night shift. Under supervision of a registered nurse, you will assist with basic patient care, monitor vital signs, help with daily living activities, and ensure a clean, safe environment.

Candidates should have one year of patient care experience and be eligible for NYS CNA certification; a HS diploma or GED is preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of satisfactory full-time experience in patient care under professional supervision.
• NYS Certified Nursing Assistant license or certification from an approved CNA training program preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Change dressings and assist with basic care as directed.
• Take and document vital signs and observations.
• Assist with daily living activities and patient mobility.
• Feed, bathe and dress patients as needed for comfort and care.
• Maintain patient rights, dignity and confidentiality.
• Perform light housekeeping duties related to patient care.
