Job summary

Stony Brook University Hospital is hiring a Nursing Assistant I/II for the 19 North Medical Oncology unit. The role works full-time nights under RN supervision, supporting patient care, documentation, and daily living activities.

Qualified candidates will have an emphasis on communication, empathy, and ability to respond to changing patient needs. Preferred NYS CNA license or approved CNA training program certification, plus a HS diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• One year of satisfactory full-time experience in the provision of simple patient care under professional supervision.
• NYS Certified Nursing Assistant license or certification from an approved CNA training program; High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Change simple dressings and deliver basic care as directed.
• Apply hot/cold therapy and compression as directed.
• Chart and document care and patient status as required.
• Take temperatures, pulse, BP and respiration.
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Feed patients requiring assistance to ensure proper nourishment.
• Maintain patient rights, dignity and confidentiality.
• May perform light housekeeping related to direct patient care.
