Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Nursing Assistant I/II for the Hospital Observation Unit on the night shift. Under RN supervision, you will provide empathic patient care, communicate treatment and visiting information, and support patients and families with integrity and respect.

Qualifications include either CNA certification or ability to obtain, with at least one year of patient care experience for the II level; HS diploma or GED preferred.

Qualifications

• Nursing Assistant I/II: required or ability to obtain during probation.
• Nursing Assistant II: one year of full-time patient care under supervision.
• Preferred: NYS CNA license or certification; 1 year patient care experience; HS diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Change dressings, apply hot/cold therapy and basic wound care as directed.
• Record vital signs and document care delivered.
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal hygiene.
• Fed, bathed, dressed and cared for patients to ensure comfort and dignity.
• Maintain patient rights, confidentiality and a clean clinical environment.
