Job summary

Stony Brook University Hospital is seeking a Nursing Assistant I/II for the 14S Orthopedics unit on the night shift. Under RN supervision, you will provide empathic patient care, assist with daily living activities, and document care and vital signs.

The position requires NYS CNA license or certification, and at least one year of related patient-care experience, with a focus on maintaining patient dignity and safety in a busy clinical setting.

Qualifications

• One year of satisfactory full-time experience in the provision of simple treatment and other patient care services under professional supervision.
• Possession of or ability to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for patient care during probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Change simple dressings as directed, give enemas, douches, and irrigations as directed.
• Chart and document care and/or behaviors as required.
• Take temperatures, pulse, blood pressure and respiration rate.
• Attend to daily living activities, personal and hygienic needs in order to maintain a conducive clinical atmosphere.
• Feed persons requiring assistance to ensure proper nourishment.
• Maintain patients’ rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
