Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Nursing Supervisor to oversee clinical and administrative nursing functions during nights. You will lead staff, collaborate with physicians, and drive quality patient care through effective problem solving and staffing coordination.

Qualifications include a Virginia RN license, BSN preferred, CPR, and 3–5 years of supervisory experience. ACLS/PALS may be obtained during orientation.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a BSN preferred.
• Must be licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in the State of Virginia.
• Should have 3-5 years recent clinical experience including work experience in a supervisory role.
• Must be CPR certified and be able to perform both adult and child CPR in any setting throughout the hospital.
• ACLS and PALS certifications (Can obtain during orientation)

Responsibilities

• Performs hospital rounds to assess and evaluate the quality of patient care and to identify problems and needs in all areas of the facility; implements appropriate follow-up action.
• Serves as a clinical resource and support to nursing staff by performing patient assessment, inserting IV catheter, NG tube insertion and other patient related treatments and assistance when necessary.
• Acts as a resource person if the unit/division is unable to solve a staffing dilemma and helps optimize staffing and reduce agency usage.
• Assigns bed placement for admissions and transfers, considering patient comfort, unit staffing and workload.
• Initiates counseling and disciplinary action in the Nurse Manager's absence per HR and Nursing policies.
• Coordinates patient transport to expedite movement and maintain patient flow.
• Responds to codes and disaster plans and ensures proper documentation of transfers.
• Assists with discharge disposition and reflects it accurately in patient records.
• Works with Care Management on issues like nursing home placement and transportation during evenings and weekends.
