Job summary

Corewell Health's Grosse Pointe Hospital is seeking a part-time Nursing Observer/Care Assistant for the night shift to support patient care under RN supervision. You will assist with routine nursing tasks, transport patients, and perform clerical duties to ensure unit efficiency.

The role emphasizes documenting care in the electronic medical record, constant observation for selected patients, and collaboration with nursing staff to deliver safe, compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Current CNA certification preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
• Basic computer knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Safely transports patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
• Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who requires constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring.
• Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
• Documents care provided in the electronic medical record.
