Job summary

UC Irvine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner I in the Department of Surgery to manage and coordinate inpatient care across divisions including Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. You will assess patients, plan and evaluate care, participate in shift sign-outs, and collaborate with surgical teams and residents.

The role involves trauma resuscitations, surgical consultations, and discharge planning with appropriate instructions and medications.

Qualifications

Requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
Must hold current, active, unrestricted California RN license.
Must hold current, active, unrestricted California NP license.
Must hold Furnishing license and DEA registration.
Must have Active NPI.
NP National Board Certification (AGACNP-BC or ACNPC-AG).
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS; ATLS within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate inpatient care for general surgery and surgical ICU patients.
Participate in inpatient sign-out at shift start and end.
Assess health needs and plan, evaluate patient care across units.
Discharge planning with instructions and medications.
Triage calls; review critical labs; obtain histories and examinations.
Provide multi-disciplinary care coordination under supervision of Trauma Chiefs.
