Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Micro Supervisor to oversee the Plant Microbiology QA Laboratories at the Casa Grande, AZ site within Abbott Nutrition. You will lead environmental monitoring, microbial testing, and CAPA activities across raw materials, in-process, and finished products while guiding a team of microbiology professionals.

The role demands strong knowledge of sterilization methods, microbial physiology, and aseptic handling, with a focus on maintaining compliance with FDA, OSHA, and Abbott

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related area.
• Technical knowledge of sterilization methods, microbial physiology, biochemical characterization, disinfection/sanitization, and aseptic handling.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the quality system effectively.
• Ensure budgetary and staff requirements are met.
• Provide microbial support for retort, powder, and aseptic lines.
• Develop microbiological guidelines and specifications with division personnel.
• Ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, safety and HR policies.
• Coach and mentor employees; recruit, develop and retain staff; conduct performance reviews.
• Develop and administer Environmental Monitoring program; lead microbial problem solving.
• Direct microbiological certification activities for new/modified facilities or processes.
• Collaborate with QA, Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, Regulatory, and Purchasing.
• Provide technical guidance to plant and ensure lab results meet guidelines.
• Ensure test methods are followed and reviewed in plant management meetings.
