Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist II for the Hackensack, NJ area. This hospital-based role operates Monday to Friday, 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM with rotational weekends, at HUMC.

The position offers pay: $32.00–$50.73 per hour, with potential 10–15% shift differentials and eligibility for annual bonus based on performance. Prepare to perform complex testing with independent judgment, support QC and instrument maintenance, and ensure timely reporting of results to physicians.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Medical Technology, Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• ASCP Certification (Preferred).
• Foreign educated candidates must provide credential evaluation from IERF; US-educated candidates must provide original transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Must demonstrate proficiency in testing areas and troubleshoot department instruments/procedures.
• Provide QC support, troubleshoot complex problems, assist with equipment maintenance and staff training.
• Perform and report analytical tests per SOP, ensuring QC requirements are met.
• Maintain records of patient test results and ensure proper specimen handling.
• Adhere to turnaround times, including STATS or critical results, for clients.
• Enter results into the Laboratory Information System for standardized physician reports.
