Job summary

AdventHealth in Florida is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomy Lab Technician to join the team. The role involves blood collection, specimen handling, and basic lab support, with emphasis on accuracy, safety, and patient care.

You will work night shifts, adhere to laboratory procedures, and assist in education of clinical staff while delivering high-quality service to patients and families served by AdventHealth.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical or vocational training preferred.
• Phlebotomy training program completion preferred.

Responsibilities

• May perform cytopreparatory staining and accessions with anatomy knowledge.
• Receive and set up primary specimen cultures for bacterial growth.
• Clean and disinfect lab equipment and maintain inventory.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and evaluate new equipment.
• Provide resolution to customer service issues within guidelines and support education to clinical staff.
• Follow safety policies including PPE use, handwashing, and chemical handling.
• Demonstrate understanding of Chemical Hygiene plan and Infection Control policies.
• Collect patient, physician, and test order information to create accounts and verify data.
• May perform blood collection (phlebotomy) and related tasks.
• Support department operations with clerical and receptionist duties.
