Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando is seeking a Full-time Phlebotomy Technician to collect blood specimens, perform basic tests, and support laboratory operations during night shifts. You will handle specimens, verify patient data, and assist with equipment and safety procedures in a hospital lab setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy training program completed; certification preferred.
• Technical/vocational schooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• May perform cytopreparatory staining and accessions surgical cases with knowledge of anatomy.
• May receive and set up primary specimen cultures, inoculating petri dishes for bacterial growth.
• May clean and disinfect laboratory equipment and spaces, maintaining inventory control and supply stocking.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and evaluates new equipment and procedures.
• Provides resolution to customer service issues within guidelines and supports education to clinical staff.
• Follows safety policies including PPE, handwashing, and chemical handling.
• Collects patient, physician, and test order information to create patient accounts and verify details.
• May perform blood specimen collection, including phlebotomy and skin puncture for all ages.
• Performs support activities to facilitate department operations, including answering phones and receptionist duties.
• May perform point of care testing, quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation and reporting.
