Job summary

AdventHealth in Florida is seeking skilled laboratory support staff for PRN shifts. You will perform phlebotomy, prepare specimens, and support lab operations while ensuring safety standards and accurate documentation.

The role emphasizes patient interaction, quality control, and adherence to infection control policies, with training provided and opportunities for career development within a faith-based health system.

Qualifications

• Able to effectively communicate verbally and in written form in English with patients, staff, and customers.
• Ability to read text and numbers in English, with judgment and problem solving under supervision.
• Must learn and apply computer related applications and programs (electronic keyboards, etc.).
• Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information per regulations.
• Phlebotomy skills and handling of infectious specimens safely.
• Reads, writes, and speaks English proficiently.

Responsibilities

• May perform cytopreparatory staining and accessions surgical cases with knowledge of anatomy.
• May receive and set up primary specimen cultures, inoculating petri dishes for bacterial growth.
• May clean and disinfect laboratory equipment and spaces, maintaining inventory control and supply stocking.
• Participates in laboratory and hospital performance improvement activities, including evaluating new equipment and procedures.
• Provides resolution to customer service issues within guidelines and supports education to clinical staff.
• Follows appropriate safety policies including PPE use, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling.
