Job summary

Sherman Oaks Hospital, part of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is hiring a Laboratory Assistant to support CLIA-compliant lab operations on the night shift in California. The role involves clerical duties, specimen handling, phlebotomy knowledge, and coordination with pathology and reference laboratories.

Qualified candidates will hold a HS diploma, have at least 1 year of clinical lab experience, CPT I/II certification where required, and a current BCLS certification.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• State CPT I or CPT II certification if state requires.
• Current BCLS (AHA) certification upon hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs clerical duties: computer entry, filing, telephone communications.
• Greet patients and visitors in a polite and friendly manner.
• Possesses good communication skills.
• Demonstrates adequate knowledge of test terminology.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of phlebotomy and collection equipment.
• Processes pathology, microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank specimens.
• Prepares specimens for reference laboratory.
• Stocks and orders routine supplies; keeps areas clean and organized.
• Operates storage areas, trays, centrifuges, and collection areas per policy.
• With proper training, may perform instrument maintenance and quality control tasks.
• Assists in Pathology with training and evaluation.
• Runner.
