Job summary

Sherman Oaks Hospital, part of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support the lab operations on the night shift. The role involves clerical work, specimen handling, and assisting in pathology under supervision.

Education required is a high school diploma with preferred 1 year of clinical lab experience and current BCLS certification. CPT I/II certification may be required where applicable.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum 1-year clinical laboratory experience performing similar job functions preferred.
• State Certified as CPT I or CPT II if the laboratory is located in a state where required.
• Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs clerical duties, data entry and telephone communications.
• Greet patients and visitors in a polite and friendly manner.
• Demonstrates knowledge of laboratory terminology and tests ordered.
• Demonstrates knowledge of phlebotomy and equipment used for collecting specimens.
• Processes specimens across pathology, microbiology, hematology and other departments.
• Stocks and orders routine supplies and maintains clean storage and work areas.
• Assists in Pathology with training and evaluation.
• Other tasks as assigned by the department manager/director, including inter-departmental deliveries.
