Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Full-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to join our nighttime team. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you will fill and deliver medications, ensure supply availability, and uphold quality standards in a high-acuity hospital setting.

The role requires a Virginia Pharmacy Technician license and a HS diploma. The position features a 7p–7a schedule, 7 days on/7 days off, and a $5,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates,

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician license is required in the state of practice.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CPhT license preferred.
• Experience in hospital or inpatient setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fills and delivers medications under pharmacist supervision.
• Ensures adequate supplies for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates questions outside scope of practice.
• Uses Epic and Omnicell to process patient information and dispensing.
• Maintains quality assurance per department and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.

Pharmacy Technicians perform care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner


• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care


• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician’s scope of practice as needed


• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information


• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements


• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $23.50 - $36.36 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
