Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Full-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician for the Night shift (7p–7a) on a 7 days on/7 days off schedule. You will fill and deliver medications under supervision, ensure adequate supplies, and uphold quality standards.

A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates. A Virginia pharmacy tech license is required; CPhT is preferred. This role sits in a major tertiary care facility with comprehensive benefits through Sentara.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Pharmacy technician licensure in Virginia required.
• CPhT license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fills and delivers medications under supervision of a pharmacist.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for patient care.
• Triages questions outside technician scope and escalates as needed.
• Uses pharmacy systems to process patient information.
• Maintains quality assurance per department and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.

Pharmacy Technicians perform care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner


• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care


• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed


• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information


• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $23.50 - $36.36 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
