Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks an Industrial Maintenance & Utility Operator to support plant manufacturing operations in a hybrid role.

You will blend hands-on mechanical maintenance with utility system monitoring, focusing on industrial maintenance to keep production running smoothly. The ideal candidate has a solid maintenance background, can troubleshoot equipment, and manage critical utility infrastructure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
• 3+ years in industrial maintenance or utility operations, preferably in chemical/industrial manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with continuous process operations.
• Familiarity with boilers, chillers, HVAC, dust collectors, scrubbers, etc.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Willingness to work outdoors and around hazardous materials; lockout/tagout and chemical handling knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on process equipment (pumps, valves, tanks, piping, rotating machinery).
• Plan materials for service and preventive maintenance work.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Assist installation and commissioning of new equipment and lines.
• Maintain CMMS records and safety/environmental protocols.
• Lead and train junior O&M specialists.
• Requisition supplies and equipment.
• Monitor and operate plant utility systems (boilers, chillers, HVAC, scrubbers).
• Respond to alarms and assist with startup/shutdown and emergency procedures.
