Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Maintenance Electrician for 2nd shift (2:00 pm – 10:30 pm, M-F with OT). You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant electrical systems up to 480 V and 3-phase, install wiring and control equipment, and support HVAC and utilities personnel to keep production lines running efficiently.

Ideal candidates are 18+ with a HS diploma, a Journeyman Electrician credential, 3–5 years of industrial experience, and strong knowledge of AC/DC theory and electrical safety.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and have a HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Journeyman Electrician with 3-5 years Industrial experience.
• Must understand AC/DC electrical theory and have an in-depth understanding of electric safety and safe work practices.
• Physical demands require normal activities of working with average to heavy materials from positions on ladders, or in cramped or difficult positions.
• Must pass a basic color blindness test.
• Aptitude testing may be utilized.
• Instrumentation and mechanical knowledge are a plus.
• Ability to work alone or as part of a team is required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair plant electrical systems up to 480 V / 3 phase.
• Perform PM and corrective maintenance work as assigned.
• Plan layouts and install/repair wiring, fixtures, and control equipment in accordance with code and best practices.
• Prepare sketches and schematics showing wiring locations and equipment.
• Install transformers, switches, relays, and distribution panels.
• Connect power cables to equipment and install grounding leads.
• Test circuit continuity to ensure safety and compatibility.
• Observe equipment performance and provide repair instructions as needed.
• Assist HVAC personnel in troubleshooting and installing building utility equipment.
• Operate material handling equipment to aid in projects.
