Job summary

Great River Health is seeking a House Supervisor (RN) to coordinate nursing services across units, acting in the absence of nursing leadership. This role emphasizes professionalism, patient care quality, and regulatory compliance while supporting hospital operations during off-hours.

The position requires an ADN, with BSN preferred, and 4–6 years of nursing practice. ACLS, BLS, and other certifications are required within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree (AA) in Nursing (ADN) Required
• BSN preferred
• 4-6 years experience in nursing practice Preferred
• Prefer previous supervisory experience Preferred
• Prefer critical care experience Preferred
• Proficiency in clinical decision making and critical thinking skills
• Proficiency in computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, and Excel) preferred
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
• ACLS within 180 Days Required
• Child Abuse Iowa Mandatory Reporter within 180 Days Required
• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider within 180 Days Required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 180 Days Required
• Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter within 180 Days Required
• NIHSS Certification within 180 Days Required
• Trauma Nursing Core Course within 1 Year Preferred
• RN Iowa Board of Nursing Upon Hire Required

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with other health care professionals to ensure optimal patient care
• Communicate nursing service philosophies, goals, policies, priorities, or procedures
• Direct or supervise nursing care staff in the provision of patient care
• Gather, analyze and document information to make informed staffing decisions
• Meet with Physicians to discuss care concerns and resolve conflicts
• Regularly round on all nursing care units to assess activity and support staff
• Act as bed placement officer in absence of a bed placement officer
• Act as Incident Commander at start of emergency management plans
• Maintain departmental policies, procedures, objectives, or infection control standards
• Observe, interview, and assess patients to identify customer service needs
• Communicate shift activities to Nursing Leadership via the House Supervisor Report
• Collaborate with leaders to resolve conflicts and patient/family concerns
• Maintain proficiency of emergency management plans
• Act as staffing office specialist when staffing office is absent
