Job summary

UPMC is seeking an Environmental Services Assistant for a full-time night shift. Responsibilities include cleaning hospital areas, operating equipment safely, and maintaining a sanitary environment during 12-hour/8-hour blocks as part of the off-shift program.

The role is within a 24-hour on-site unit. Night program differentials and union membership (AFSCME) are noted; starting hourly rate is provided with subsequent step increases after six months.

Responsibilities

• Operates all departmental equipment safely and returns it to storage after use.
• Climbs ladders to hang drapes or access high areas for cleaning.
• Cleans and services hospital areas, moves furniture, and maintains sanitary conditions.
• Washes walls, ceilings, windows, drapes, and fixtures; handles waste and disposal.
• Disinfects areas using approved germicides and PPE as required.
• Assists with inventory, supplies, and prepares work areas for tasks.
