Job summary

FedEx Freight is hiring for a dock associate to transport freight between dock areas and trailers during night shift hours. You will operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to load and unload freight, verify paperwork, secure cargo, and assist customers with freight documentation.

The role requires basic math, reliable teamwork, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced dock environment. Previous dock experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing or freight handling experience preferred.
• Experience with hostler/yard mule duties preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Capability to lift/carry varying weights and operate dock equipment.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck as needed.
• Verify freight documentation matches description (type, weight, hazmat).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
