Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers. The role involves forklift and manual handling, verifying freight documents, and securing loads for transport.

This is a night-shift position with hourly pay starting at $22.77 and can go up to $26.64 based on location and experience. Responsibilities include preventing damage, assisting customers with freight paperwork, and complying with safety and company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Previous warehousing or freight handling experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using motorized/manual equipment including forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazardous materials) in system.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
