Job summary

The Durst Organization is seeking an Engineer at 26-01 First Street, Astoria, NY 11102 to operate and maintain MEP systems across multiple properties. The role involves hands-on diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and safe operation of chillers and boilers.

Shift is Sunday-Thursday 11pm-7am with Friday and Saturday off; you will support staff and subcontractors and ensure resident comfort and safety. Licensing and BMS experience preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Valid NYC Fire Department Refrigeration Machine Operator License with minimum one year experience.
• Fire Safety Director Certification required.
• Sprinkler/Standpipe Certification required.
• Air Compressor Certification preferred.
• EPA Universal Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Start up, regulate, repair and shut down equipment including Multistack chillers and Areco boilers.
• Monitor meters, gauges and controls to ensure safe operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance on MEP systems.
• Use hand and power tools for repairs and replacements.
• Diagnose and operate refrigeration and cooling systems.
• Review BMS for performance and alarms; provide corrective feedback.
• Record events and provide diagnosis for action.
• Audit safety devices and troubleshoot issues.
• Test and treat hydronic systems to prevent corrosion.
• Handle tasks across campus buildings and resident units.
