Job summary

JBG SMITH is seeking a facilities engineer for the night shift to operate, maintain, and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across properties in the DC area. The role requires supervision of staff and adherence to safety and compliance standards.

The position emphasizes proactive system monitoring, preventive maintenance, and timely response to alarms, with a focus on tenant comfort and lease compliance. Lifting and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 4+ years in stationary engineering, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, or facilities maintenance.
• Must hold a Class Three Steam Boiler Engineer license (DC DCRA) or equivalent.
• EPA CFC Universal Technician certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise subordinate employees.
• Operate, maintain, and repair electrical, mechanical, plumbing, life safety systems, and related equipment.
• Conduct daily mechanical tours to ensure safe, efficient operation.
• Adjust HVAC controls to meet tenant comfort and lease requirements.
• Respond to alarms and incidents, document actions, and resolve issues.
• Complete documentation and logs in compliance with company procedures.
• Carry out general building maintenance and respond to service requests.
