Job summary

Backus Hospital in Connecticut seeks an Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join a 42-bed ED in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting. The unit provides Level III trauma care and stroke services, with EPIC EMR, Teleneurology, and wireless medication scanning.

You will work under the Nurse Manager, applying evidence-based nursing to develop a care plan that meets physical, emotional, spiritual, and educational needs of patients and families. BSN preferred and CT RN licensure required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• One year RN experience and/or completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program required.
• BLS required. Ability to obtain and maintain ACLS, TNCC, PALS, and CPI certifications within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain administration of moderate sedation within 9 months of hire.
• Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
• Certified Emergency Nurse, Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• RN works in collaborative environments with interdisciplinary teams.
• Use nursing process to develop a plan of care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural and educational needs of patient and family.
• Provide patient-centered care in a fast-paced ED setting with evidence-based practices.
