Job summary

Backus Hospital is seeking an Emergency Department Registered Nurse to join a fast-paced, 42-bed unit in a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. You will contribute to patient-centered care in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and utilize EPIC EMR and other technologies.

The role requires RN licensure in Connecticut, BSN preferred, and current BLS with ability to obtain ACLS, TNCC, PALS, and CPI within 90 days. A strong patient advocate with clinical excellence is needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• One year RN experience and/or nurse residency completion required.
• BLS required; ability to obtain ACLS, TNCC, PALS and CPI within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain administration of moderate sedation within 9 months of hire.
• Current unrestricted Connecticut RN license in good standing.
• Certified Emergency Nurse, Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse or NRP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• RNs work in collaborative environments with interdisciplinary teams focusing on patient-centered care.
• Utilize the nursing process to develop a plan of care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural and educational needs.
• Adhere to the State Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies under supervision of the Nurse Manager.

Education

RN license (Connecticut)

BLS certification

ACLS certification (within 90 days)

TNCC certification (within 90 days)

PALS certification (within 90 days)

CPI (within 90 days)

Moderate sedation administration (within 9 months)
