Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. seeks an ER Registrar to manage patient intake and registration in the Emergency Department. You will gather and verify personal, insurance, and medical information, ensure accurate and confidential records, and deliver compassionate customer service to patients and families.

Four 10-hour shifts per week, 7PM-5:30AM, with a focus on accurate documentation, insurance verification, and interdepartmental communication to support efficient ED operations.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in medical/healthcare administration preferred.
• 0–2 years in healthcare setting including patient registration/scheduling required.
• 0–2 years in customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families professionally and compassionately.
• Register patients for emergency services and collect required information.
• Verify patient identity and insurance details; update records as needed.
• Explain and obtain signatures on consent forms.
• Verify coverage and eligibility for billing purposes.
• Collect co-pays/deductibles as applicable and inform patients of financial obligations.
• Assist patients with insurance requirements and answer related questions.
• Document consent forms and nursing sign-off when patient cannot sign.
• Ensure correct insurance plan codes for prompt payment.
• Prepare necessary paperwork for quick retrieval of patient visits.
• Place armbands for patient identification before discharge from the department.
• Notify department or physicians of patient arrival and follow up if waiting.
