Job summary

Physicians Regional Healthcare System is seeking an ER Registrar to manage patient intake and registration in the Emergency Department. You will gather and verify personal, insurance, and medical information, ensure accurate records, and provide high-quality customer service to patients and families.

Shifts include four 10-hour nights per week (7PM–5:30AM); you will support documentation, insurance verification, and coordination with clinical and administrative teams to ensure smooth patient

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or training in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 0-2 years of experience in customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and families professionally and compassionately.
• Registers patients for emergency services, collecting required personal, insurance, and medical information.
• Verifies patient identification and insurance details; updates records as needed.
• Obtains signatures on consent forms and explains each consent.
• Verifies insurance coverage and eligibility for billing.
• Collects co-pays or deductibles and informs patients of financial obligations.
• Assists with insurance questions and requirements.
• Documents thoroughly if patient cannot sign forms or a family member signs.
• Notifies physicians and departments of patient arrival; follows up as needed.
• Maintains armband identification and standard communication during emergencies.
• Performs other duties and maintains regular attendance.
