Job summary

UofL Health is seeking an Emergency Department Tech/Unit Coordinator to provide clinical patient care support under the direction of a registered nurse. The role includes clerical duties, admitting and discharging patients in multiple computer systems, phlebotomy, EKG lead placement, trauma care, and respiratory functions.

The position carries Night shift (7 PM–7 AM) at our Louisville, KY campus, and requires a high school diploma or GED, plus BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED/equivalent (required).
• Completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT Training Program, or Nursing Students who have completed Fundamentals of Nursing Course from an accredited school of nursing (preferred).
• Previous experience in ED (preferred).
• Certification as CNA, CMA or EMT (preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required by AHA.

Responsibilities

• Measures intake/output, vital signs, height and weight.
• Transports patients, lab work, specimens and blood.
• Phlebotomy and EKG lead placement under RN direction.
• Assists physicians and RNs with procedures and sterile field setup.
• Transcribes orders and updates patient records in hospital systems.
