Job summary

UofL Health is seeking an Emergency Department Tech/Unit Coordinator to provide clinical support under the direction of a registered nurse. Duties include phlebotomy, EKG lead placement, trauma care, patient transport, and clerical tasks across multiple hospital systems.

The role requires handling intake, vital signs, wound care, and ensuring accurate documentation while maintaining patient safety during nights shifts. Previous ED exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; relevant medical training preferred.
• Completion of an approved Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT program, or nursing coursework preferred.
• Experience with ED procedures and patient care is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Measures intake/output, vitals, height and weight, and documents results.
• Performs phlebotomy, EKG lead placement, and basic trauma care under RN direction.
• Transcribes and enters physician orders; updates patient records in the hospital system.
• Transports patients and specimens; assists with admissions, discharges, and routine care.
