Job summary

The Emergency Department nurse at CoxHealth South in Springfield provides professional nursing care during the initial phase of acute illness or trauma for patients of all ages. The ED nurse triages and determines priority of care based on physical, psychological and social needs and works to stabilize the patient, initiate treatment, and arrange discharge or longer stay as required.

Education: MO RN license required; BLS within 90 days; ACLS, PALS within one year; ENPC and TNCC within 12

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program.
• Active Missouri RN license.
• BLS must be obtained within 90 days; ACLS within 1 year; PALS within 1 year; ENPC within 12 months; TNCC within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Triage patients and determine priority of care based on physical, psychological and social needs.
• Assess needs of each patient, stabilize and initiate treatment.
• Discharge the patient or arrange for a longer hospital stay as needed.
